at the age of 19. St. Jaymes worked at the Chukker Club, a 1960s venue frequented by trans people, and later went to clerical school; in 1972, after her transition, she married and moved to Houston, falling out of contact with most of the people she'd known. In this section, St. Jaymes reminisces about Finocchio's and other venues, her time in Houston, well-known strippers and performers who crossed paths with her, the Central City Anti-Poverty Program, and her experiences transitioning. She also narrates over photos and ephemera from earlier in her life. He began practicing at OHSU in 1990 and began private practice in Portland in 1996. At the time, he was one of the youngest in his career and today is considered a pioneer in surgical techniques for gender affirming genital reconstructive surgeries and one of the leading surgeons in the field. This interview discusses his early career and the limits and obstacles of information and training in transgender healthcare for providers as well as the challenges to providing transgender healthcare in the nineties, and how these challenges have evolved and progressed. An important part of her socialization took place online, in the Myspace, DeviantArt, Twitch websites where she felt she had more control over interactions than IRL, especially if they became abusive due to her being a trans woman. Elsie speaks frankly about struggles that she has had both in school and her romantic history, as a sexual assault took its toll on both of those spheres in her life. She also talks briefly about her medical transition as a process that lead to her feeling more herself on estrogen than testosterone. Toward the end of the interview, Elsie connects her own empowerment and political development both to instances of police brutality that Black Lives Matter has foregrounded for the country, as well as her time studying at NYU and being involved in Geek Feminism Wiki, reading third wave feminist theory and reacting to
