In the late 1950s and early 1960s, Brevard worked at Finocchio's drag revue as a Marilyn Monroe impersonator; a trans co-worker, Stormy, helped her to begin transitioning. She lived at the edge of the Tenderloin, and although she was not a central part of the trans community there, she felt more comfortable there than elsewhere. Stryker interviews Brevard about her early drag career, her transition, and the bars and venues where she spent time. This includes extensive attention to the culture and working conditions at Finocchio's. In this section, St. Jaymes reminisces about her Tenderloin era, describing the clientele at Compton's and Chukkers (as locals called it), her forays into sex work, police harassment and brutality, and her memories of the Compton's Cafeteria Riot. AT 20, Bradley opened his first downtown club in Lexington, KY with the help of his brother and sister. By the 1980’s, Bradley was Lexington’s leading drag queen. In 1991, Bradley moved to California. When he volunteered his design skills at an AIDS fundraiser, a local designer recognized Bradley’s talent and put him to work. Bradley quickly developed his own company, with clients ranging from Elton John to Barbra Streisand. In 2016, after 25 years in California, Bradley bought 40 acres in Meally, Kentucky, and moved back to be near his family. While mostly taking life a little easier now, Bradley continues to coordinate parties and events, and still dresses in drag on
