In 1991 she began working as Education Coordinator at the Kitchener-Waterloo Sexual Assault Support Centre in Ontario where she instructed on male violence against women, dating violence, child sexual assault, sexual harassment, dissociation, anti-racism, and oppression. In 1994 she initiated policies and training to support transgendered people who have experienced sexual and interpersonal violence. In 2000, White became a member of the Trans Alliance Society and the Women/Trans Dialogue Planning Committee, a grassroots project out of Vancouver, B.C. to foster dialogue between transgendered people and trans-exclusionary women’s groups. It was through this Committee that White met Joshua Mira Goldberg, her frequent collaborator in articles and policy guides. White received her M.A. in Educational Studies at the University of British Columbia in 2002. In 2005, White was employed by the Justice Institute of B.C. (JIBC) as Program Coordinator at the Centre for Leadership and Community Learning. She later became Program Director at the Centre for Counselling and Community Safety. The newsletters also acted as information pools for contacts outside of prisons, to connect those incarcerated to organizations that offered services to the inmate population. The majority of the newsletters are from prisons and organizations in support of prisoners located throughout the United States,\r\nwith a small portion collected from Canada. It is guided in its development by the Two-Spirit Archives Advisory Council, which ensures Two-Spirit people are central to preserving the history of their contributions to society and in strengthening their community. In collaboration with the Two-Spirited People of Manitoba, Inc., the University of Winnipeg Library has curated and captured a selection of webpages, video, social media, news coverage, and resources that pertain to Two-Spirit people. This growing collection covers a diverse range of topics, which include websites of Two-Spirit organizations in North America, film and video created by and about Two-Spirited people, written resources and tools, Two-Spirit autobiographies and narratives, visual art, archival collections, conferences and outreach, and social media. This is an ongoing web-archiving project that will continue to grow as more Two-Spirited material continues to be published on the Internet.
