In this oral history interview, Hayashi discusses the beginnings of his activist work as a student in California in the 1990s, his community organizing work among other trans people of color at the Audre Lorde Project, alliances with other organizations and initiatives like the Trans Day of Action, the development of TLC during his time as executive director, TLC's work on the detention of trans
