In this oral history interview, Choih discusses their upbringing and initial forays into trans politics, environmental activism, and anti-violence work in the Twin Cities, the events in Minneapolis in the summer of 2020 following the murder of George Floyd, and their experiences within those events. Specifically, they discuss the protests that occurred in the days immediately after Floyd's murder, the establishment and development of George Floyd Square/Floyd Town, the threats and realitites of white supremacist violence in South Minneapolis, their experience working overnight security at George Floyd Square, and their visions for racial justice, trans liberation, and a better future."],"mime_type_tesim":["image/jpeg"],"resource_type_tesim":["Moving image","Text"],"creator_tesim":["Choih, Na"],"creator_ssim":["Choih, Na"],"contributor_tesim":["Beam, Myrl","Billund-Phibbs, Myra"],"contributor_ssim":["Beam, Myrl","Billund-Phibbs, Myra"],"rights_tesim":["Copyright undetermined"],"publisher_tesim":["University of Minnesota Minneapolis Libraries"],"publisher_ssim":["University of Minnesota Minneapolis Libraries"],"language_tesim":["http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/iso639-2/eng"],"based_near_tesim":["http://www.geonames.org/5037649"],"based_near_ssim":["http://www.geonames.org/5037649"],"isPartOf_ssim":["2b88qc34d"],"isMemberOf_ssim":["vq27zn49p"],"genre_tesim":["Oral Histories","Transcriptions"],"genre_ssim":["Oral Histories","Transcriptions"],"flagged_tesim":["No explicit content"],"lcsh_subject_tesim":["http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh97002483"],"lcsh_subject_ssim":["http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh97002483"],"other_subject_tesim":["Korean people","Climate Generation"],"other_subject_ssim":["Korean people","Climate Generation"],"dta_other_subject_tesim":["Climate Generation","Korean people"],"dta_subject_primary_searchable_tesim":["Asian American transgender people","Environmental justice","Non-binary people","Transgender political activists","Climate Generation","Korean people"],"dta_subject_alt_searchable_tesim":["Nonbinary people","Enbies","NB-ies","Transgender Asian American people","Transgender Asian Americans","Eco-justice","Environmental justice movement","Global environmental justice"],"date_start_dtsi":"2020-01-01T00:00:00Z","date_end_dtsi":"2020-01-01T00:00:00Z","date_created_search_ssim":["Oct October 9, 2020"],"is_shown_at_tesim":["https://umedia.lib.umn.edu/item/p16022coll97:224"],"is_shown_at_ssim":["https://umedia.lib.umn.edu/item/p16022coll97:224"],"hosted_elsewhere_ssi":"1","language_label_ssim":["English"],"subject_geojson_facet_ssim":["{\"type\":\"Feature\",\"geometry\":{\"type\":\"Point\",\"coordinates\":[\"-93.26384\",\"44.97997\"]},\"properties\":{\"placename\":\"Minneapolis\"}}"],"subject_coordinates_geospatial":["44.97997,-93.26384"],"subject_geographic_hier_ssim":["Minnesota||Hennepin County||City of Minneapolis||Minneapolis"],"subject_geographic_ssim":["Minneapolis","Minnesota","Hennepin County","City of Minneapolis","United States"],"subject_geographic_tesim":["Minneapolis","Minnesota","Hennepin County","City of Minneapolis","United States"],"has_thumbnail_ssi":"true","blacklight_display_ssi":"generic_file","has_file_content_ssi":"true","_version_":1842245181368172544,"timestamp":"2025-09-03T12:18:33.994Z","score":1.0},{"id":"z029p506j","system_create_dtsi":"2022-11-18T20:08:07Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2026-03-16T00:20:18Z","date_uploaded_dtsi":"2022-11-18T20:08:07Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2022-11-18T20:08:07Z","model_ssi":"GenericFile","has_model_ssim":["GenericFile"],"date_created_tesim":["2022-11-18"],"date_created_ssim":["2022-11-18"],"visibility_ssi":"public","new_model_ssi":"GenericObject","dta_all_subject_ssim":["Coming out","LGBTQ+ spiritual people","Non-binary people","Queer people","Transgender political activists"],"dta_other_subject_ssim":["Gay Straight Alliance (GSA)","The Future of Transgender and Nonbinary People"],"dta_homosaurus_subject_ssim":["Coming out","LGBTQ+ spiritual people","Non-binary people","Queer people","Transgender political activists"],"date_created_search_tesim":["Feb February 20, 2021"],"date_created_display_ssim":["Feb. 20, 2021"],"dta_dates_ssim":["2021"],"dta_sortable_date_dtsi":"2021-02-20T00:00:00Z","ident_tesi":"z029p506j","identifier_ssim":["z029p506j"],"collection_name_ssim":["Audio and Video Clips and Transcripts"],"institution_name_ssim":["Louisiana Trans Oral History Project"],"primary_institution_ssi":"Louisiana Trans Oral History Project","depositor_ssim":["arona.s@northeastern.edu"],"depository_tesim":["arona.s@northeastern.edu"],"title_tesim":["Interview with Peter Marie Jenkins"],"title_ssim":["Interview with Peter Marie Jenkins"],"label_tesim":["Interview with Peter Marie Jenkins"],"description_tesim":["An interview with Peter Marie Jenkins.
