That experience opened her eyes to electoral politics. She worked with Councilmember Robert Lilligren as a policy aide. She ran an online “Run, Andrea, Run” campaign when she ran for city council. She is one of the founders of the Transgender Equity Summit, a gathering of transgender and gender non-conforming folks to come together with city policymakers and leaders to talk about ways that the transgender community can be more engaged in city government.
