During this year, Sullivan met the boyfriend with whom he would spend much of his 20s, although it would be some time before a relationship began; Sullivan had a long-distance boyfriend at the time. Louis Graydon Sullivan (1951-1991) was a gay trans man from Milwaukee, WI who lived much of his adult life in San Francisco.
