At the time of this interview, he was director of JD Strategies, a member of the What Would an HIV Doula Do collective, and a board member of ME Action, an advocacy organization for people living with myalgic encephalomyelitis, otherwise known as chronic fatigue syndrome. Additionally, he is the author of The Cranky Queer Guide to Chronic Illness newsletter, and from 2014 to 2018 was the senior editor and director of strategic communications at TheBody/TheBodyPro. In this oral history interview, Davids discusses his experiences in the AIDS activist movement of the 1980s and 1990s, specifically with the Philadelphia chapter of ACT UP [the AIDS Coalition to Unleash Power,] through which he participated in direct actions and campaigns against public health authorities and pharmaceutical companies, the impact of the AIDS movement on his personal and political development, his experiences of chronic illness and disability and thoughts on the disability justice movement, and the need for and promise of solidarity between the disability justice and
