In this oral history interview, Strangio discusses his initial forays into legal work with the Sylvia Rivera Law Project in New York City, his thoughts on the use of litigation and legal avenues broadly as methods of working towards trans liberation, his experiences litigating several high-profile Title VII civil rights cases with the ACLU including Bostock v. Additionally, Cuevas has served as a fellow with the Trans Justice Funding Project, and as a board member of the Peace and Justice Institute and the City of Orlando's Office of Multicultural Affairs. In this oral history interview, Cuevas discusses their early life as a child of migrant agricultural workers in southwest Florida and initial forays into activism and queer and trans community organizing, their work to build and maintain healing and organizing spaces for queer and trans people of color in the Orlando area, especially following the Pulse nightclub shooting, their experience as a fellow with the Trans Justice Funding Project and their thoughts on the U.S. trans activism landscape broadly, and their visions of a better future. In this oral history interview, St. Amand discusses his beginnings, development, and experiences as a trans practitioner within the field of trans health care, his experiences within large trans health care organizations like WPATH [the World Professional Association for Transgender Health] and USPATH, the continuing barriers to trans people's access to quality, gender-affirming health care, and his visions of a better future.
