Prior to her work with Black and Pink, Morgan was an adolescent sexual health educator with the Charles Drew Health Center in Omaha, was the first Black President of Nebraska Pride, and the creator of Nebraska Youth Pride. In this oral history interview, Morgan discusses her upbringing in a tight-knit, historic Black community in North Omaha, her entry into political organizing, community health work, and an abolitionist political consciousness, her time working at the Charles Drew Health Center and how that led her to Black and Pink, and her work as Executive Director. Additionally, she discusses her experiences of incarceration, thoughts on the potential of abolition and liberation, the need for a multifaceted approach to dismantle carceral systems, her thoughts on In 1990, she began volunteering with the International Foundation for Gender Education (IFGE) and became its executive director from 1997-98. She founded the Boston chapter of the Transexual Menace, and co-edited and published In Your Face, the Journal of Political Activism, the first periodical to document hate crimes against transgender persons. In 1995, Nancy founded the award-winning radio program GenderTalk. In the 2000s, Nancy served for six years as chair of the Massachusetts Transgender Political Coalition.
