AT 20, Bradley opened his first downtown club in Lexington, KY with the help of his brother and sister. By the 1980’s, Bradley was Lexington’s leading drag queen. In 1991, Bradley moved to California. When he volunteered his design skills at an AIDS fundraiser, a local designer recognized Bradley’s talent and put him to work. Bradley quickly developed his own company, with clients ranging from Elton John to Barbra Streisand. In 2016, after 25 years in California, Bradley bought 40 acres in Meally, Kentucky, and moved back to be near his family. While mostly taking life a little easier now, Bradley continues to coordinate parties and events, and still dresses in drag on Ceyenne ran away from home multiple times, but she made the decision to leave for good around the age of fifteen. She eventually found her community, but it was a difficult place to discover. As an activist, Ceyenne has championed efforts to insert the neglected transgender identity into the national queer rights conversation. Julie is a proud grandmother, Presbyterian church elder, and public speaker. She married her wife Joanne in 1972 and is an ordained Baptist minister who worked in the ministry for 20 years before moving on to higher education. In 2003, Julie came out to her wife as transgender. Joanne decided that she loved “the person, and not the package,\" and that she would stay with her spouse no matter what. In 2005, when she came out at work as Julie, the Spring Arbor University fired her. Julie filed a federal discrimination complaint, and eventually settled with her former employer. Since then, she has served as executive director of Michigan Equality, and on the national boards of both Soulforce and PFLAG, while Joanne works as a psychotherapist with a focus on transgender issues. Julie and Joanne often travel together to speaking engagements, where they talk about the surprises and enduring love of their 46-year In 1968, Marlow moved to West Berlin and was hired at a cabaret bar called Chez Nous. area of New York City. Renee describes the first 30 some years of life as living as an “unconscious male impersonator.” Renee fought in Vietnam and participated in anti-war rallies and demonstrations after being transferred back to the U.S. towards the end of the war. Renee started working as a taxi driver in New York City, a job she kept for 27 years, in order to maintain a flexible schedule to do political organizing. Renee got involved in the drag club scene and joined the House of Sally. Despite the challenges that came with decades of presenting herself authentically while being in a wheelchair, helping queens escape from cops, using her taxi for years as a place to do sex work to Tori Cooper is a health and equity advocate, community organizer, author, and leading figure in the transgender and HIV communities. Tori’s life has been repeatedly devastated by the HIV/AIDS pandemic. When Tori was in middle school, her mother’s cousin died of AIDS complications on the same day her maternal grandfather died of cancer, which gutted her family. One of her childhood friends, Aubrey, died of complications from AIDS when Tori was 23. Aubrey was the first person to see that Tori was going to “make a beautiful woman one day,” before even Tori herself. In 2015, she founded and self-financed Advocates for Better Care Atlanta, LLC, a consulting firm created to educate and  empower marginalized people, particularly prioritizing the needs of transgender people and those living with HIV. In 2021, Tori was appointed to President Joe Biden’s Advisory Council on HIV \u0026 AIDS, which is the first time that an out Black transgender person has served on the council. Tori has also been featured in the documentary Silent Epidemic, talking about the approach to trans issues and HIV in the South.
