Digital Transgender Archive
A newsletter from the Intersex Society of North America, primarily composed of a personal narrative from a woman named Ana, showing the ongoing harm that is caused by non-consensual genital surgeries performed on intersex children. Ana underwent a clitorectomy at age 12 without her knowledge or consent; the surgeons removed her enlarged clitoris without explaining the reason why, and without explaining her intersex condition, Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome. The aftermath left her with psychological and physical issues like depression. This item comes from the Joshua Aidan Dunn collection at the GLBT Historical Society.
